Willis Simmonds Lawyers is a boutique firm offering quality legal services in Beaumaris, and is founded on more than 65 collective years of legal expertise across many areas of the law.

Our considerable clientele consists of a mix of individuals, local residents, corporations and businesses, including a number of high profile companies, a large proportion of whom have been loyal clients over many years.  We have, and continue to, consistently expand our client base through referrals from satisfied clients, which we see as a reflection on the excellent level of service provided. 

Headed by our two very experienced partners, John Willis and Joanne Simmonds, our team consists of Solicitor Laura McLeod, Conveyancing Manager Rosalee Scriven, Paralegal Chrissie Malioris, our Legal Secretary, Clare Taylor and Bookkeeper, Pam Willis.  We pride ourselves on ensuring our clients receive an exceptional standard of professional and personalised representation in the following areas:

The Partners

John Willis B.Ec, LL.B (Hons), Founding Partner

 

John attended Brighton Grammar School and went on to complete a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor of Laws at Monash University and was admitted to practice as a Barrister and Solicitor in 1974.

 

Practising law in Leongatha before returning to Beaumaris, John commenced legal practice in the Concourse in 1986.  With his wife Pam they have close ties to the local community. 

 

John has vast experience across a wide range of law, practising largely in relation to Trusts, Business and Commercial Law, including large Commercial Litigation matters, with particular focus on complex Commercial matters and Agreements, for both corporate clients and individuals.

 

Joanne Simmonds (LL.B)


Joanne also attended Monash University where she completed a Bachelor of Laws. She has been involved in the areas of Conveyancing and Probate for over 25 years. In 2002, Joanne brought this wealth of knowledge and experience in those areas to the firm.

Joanne continues to practice extensively in Conveyancing and Probate, including Wills and Powers of Attorney, and in the areas of Business Law, including sales and purchases of small businesses, Commercial Leases, and Litigation.  Joanne also has an expanding practice in Asset Protection, and representing individuals who feel they have been unfairly dealt with in a family member's Will.

Our Staff

Laura McLeod, (LL.B), Solicitor

Laura attended Griffith University in Queensland where she undertook studies in law and psychological science.  She later moved to Melbourne and completed her studies at Melbourne University to attain a double degree in Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Psychological Science.

Laura conducts the firm's growing Family Law practice which includes Financial Agreements, property settlements, children's matters, defacto, same sex relationships, mediation and alternate dispute resolution and also assists in the areas of Criminal Law and litigious matters.

Rosalee Scriven, Conveyancing Manager

Rosalee has been with the firm since 2002, and has extensive conveyancing experience in domestic and commercial property transactions, subdivisions and off-the-plan sales and purchases.  She provides a highly organised, efficient and professional service and streamlines what can often be a very stressful experience.  As a dedicated team player, who attends to client's requests swiftly she has an enviable track record of bringing matters to a successful conclusion on time.  Rosalee works under the supervision of the partners of the firm, and with the assistance of Chrissie Malioris.

Chrissie Malioris, Paralegal

Chrissie studies law at Monash University and in addition to conveyancing provides paralegal services in the areas of Wills, Leases and debt collection matters, and will assist you with your general enquiries relating to these matters.

Clare Taylor, Legal Secretary/Assistant

Clare is a valuable member of our team, providing comprehensive and efficient administrative, secretarial and paralegal support in all areas, particularly in Wills, Powers of Attorney and Estate matters. Clare maintains high professional standards and an excellent rapport with our clientele.

Pam Willis
, B.Ec, Dip Ed

Pam grew up in Beaumaris, has a Bachelor of Economics and a Diploma of Education, and has taught locally for many years.  Pam and John operate well as a husband and wife team, with Pam responsible for the bookkeeping and associated duties within our firm.
